Hi everyone!  Happy Monday!

The latest member of my bag family… Everyone, meet Olive!   She’s a Celine Luggage ‘Micro’ size  =)

I’ve been following this style via the Purse Forum every since it was first introduced, around October/November of 2010.  At that time, two models were available – one with a robot face and the other with a front envelope.  I’ve always been attracted with the robot face, because it had such a charming and playful personality.  Also, there were only three primary sizes available – Mini, Medium, and Shoulder (the Nano was introduced shortly thereafter).  There was a mysterious size that was talked about but never seen… the “Micro”.  An in-between size of the Mini and Nano.  A few months later, this “Micro” size surfaced in Asia.  However, the US market didn’t receive it yet.  Matter of fact, every time I dropped by Barney’s or Neiman Marcus and asked to see the Micro, the sale associate would pull out a Nano.  Micro’s were simply imaginary sizes that no one saw.  Not until recently that this particular size was brought into US boutiques.  I had my heart set on the Micro from the very beginning.  Because of my frame, I found that the Mini was too overwhelming.

I’ve done so much research on the Micro that I would love to share my thoughts with you just in case you’re interested in this size.  Currently, the Celine boutique in Miami and New York carries it.  The Micro stands at 10 inches tall, 10 inches wide, and 5 inches deep.  With the “wings” spread out, the width extends to 14 inches (2 inches on each side).  It is made from soft calfskin and lined with microfiber suede.  There are two leather options – drummed/pebbled or smooth leather.  Drummed leather is more scratch-resistant and low-maintenance than smooth leather.  However, smooth leather is more luxurious and supple.  The last time I spoke with the sale associates, they shared with me that there are currently 5 colors available  – Jungle (olive), Dune (sand beige), Navy (dark blue), Anthracite (blue gray), and Black.  Now this part gets a little more fun… drummed leather comes with silver hardware while smooth leather with gold hardware, except for the Jungle color (it’s drummed leather with gold hardware).  For example, if you like the Dune color in gold hardware, then it only comes in smooth leather.

After months of research, I knew I wanted a neutral color with gold hardware.  I wear a lot of gold accessories, so gold hardware would compliment my current jewelry collection.  Even though I adore the Dune color, I gravitated towards the Jungle color more.  It’s actually a very interesting color that quite hard to describe.  It’s a medium olive color with beige-brown undertones.  Depending on the light, it can alter from being light yellow-olive to dark gray-olive.  It’s a great neutral color that matches well with most colors and prints, especially leopard (and I LOVE leopard!).

Wearing Wendy’s sunglasses… whatcha think?  =)
