With Wendy

After London and Paris, we went home for 24 hours, said hi to the kitties, and went straight to Los Angeles for a very important initiative.  As the Wendy’s Lookbook Foundation grows, I’m making it a priority to continuously meet the health care needs of our youths impacted by the juvenile justice system.  This is our second round of vision care.  With the first round with Lenscrafters, we were able to provide eye exams and glasses to 5 youths.  However, the need was much higher.  About 20 youths signed up.  For this second round, we partnered with one of my dear friends Laura Ha who has her own practice, Eyecon Optometry in Los Angeles.  Laura has such a giving heart.  After reading about our initiative with Lenscrafters, she contacted me and offered her services.

I’ve known Laura for over 5 years now and we met… you guessed it… on this blog.  Back in 2011, I received an incredible email from a blog reader who was very passionate about providing vision care to communities with limited access to vision health.  That email blossomed into a wonderful friendship that I’m thankful for every single day.  Just the other day, I texted Laura with pictures of Sherlock’s eye.  She told me exactly what to do and what to expect (he had conjunctivitis).  She’s a care giver to two-legged and four-legged creatures.

For some of our youths, it was their first time getting their eye examined, and for others, it was a thorough routine check-up.  Regardless, Laura and her team were incredible every step of the way.  They provided exceptional care and spent quality time with our youths.

Happy Friday everyone and thank you so much for reading!  From the bottom of my heart, thank YOU for your support, kindness, and giving me this platform to share my love for fashion, for cats, and for juvenile justice advocacy.  Thank you thank you.

To Laura, words can not express how much you mean to me.  Thank you for your giving heart and passionate soul.  You and your team made the whole experience so much fun (and educational!) for our youths.  Thank you for your kindness, time, and incredible support!
