With Wendy

Good morning everyone!  I’m so excited to share with you something very special… For the last 6 months, I’ve had the absolute honor and pleasure of designing with Mejuri.  From concept to design to the smallest detail, a collection was born: TUXEDO.  One that captures the essence of strength and tenderness, inspired by the modern woman, the unapologetically ambitious girl who chases her dreams while staying anchored to her love for humanity.  This collection combines feminine and masculine elements coming together to create soft curves with defined silhouettes and architectural details.

:: Strong Details ::

Tuxedo necklace, Tuxedo chain bracelet, Tuxedo pinky ring

The concept of this collection is inspired by Tuxedos.  They’re timeless like fine jewelry; confident and strong, like the women who inspire us.  We adapted the details of a man’s tuxedo (pleats on the fabric, cuff links, buttons on the shirt) and reimagined them into jewelry pieces.  The signature pattern of Tuxedo is inspired by fabric pleats, and the specific shape by cuff links.  We brought out its femininity by making it more wavy and soft.  And I love the pinky ring!  There’s just something so commanding about the littlest finger making the strongest statement!

:: Classic Layering ::

These cuffs with black spinel stones are inspired by the folds on a man’s suit and the 3 stones have the appearance of buttons on a shirt’s sleeve.  I love layering them together or pairing them with a watch.

:: Modern Romance ::

In my humble opinion, there’s nothing more sensual and romantic than borrowing his button up and wearing it as a shirtdress on a lazy Sunday afternoon.  These earrings capture the vibe of modern romance.  Crafted in the signature pattern of Tuxedo, the white pearls add that feminine version of the “white collar shirt” look.

Layered or single, these rings have architectural structure crossed at the centre, imitating the bow tie on a tuxedo.

Draft after draft, countless design meetings and conference calls, designing with Mejuri was incredibly rejuvenating and meaningful.  A collaboration with every detail considered, such as can we reduce that by 2 millimeters and can we shrink that by 20%, Mejuri became a safe haven for me to nurture creativity and to engage in deep conversations (conversations about design, the meaning of womanhood, juvenile justice issues, and more).

I truly hope you enjoy this collection as much as we enjoyed designing it.  I wear the cross ringpinky ring, and chain bracelet almost everyday, and the cuffs whenever I wear my watch.  I can’t wait to restyle and recombine them and share the different looks with you soon!

And as always, THANK YOU so much for reading.  Thank you for being on this journey with me.  New York and now this… words cannot express how grateful I am of your support, encouragement, and love.  Again and again, thank you.
