Happy Monday everyone! Snow days are the best days. First, it’s actually quite manageable most of the time. It’s cold but not freezing cold. Second, it’s very quiet. While most people don’t want to be caught in the middle of a snow downpour – because they’re sane – we run to catch the storm. Which leads to the third point, it’s truly a winter wonderland (and it does well on Instagram ;). Being a west coast girl all my life, I’m smiling because I really do love this. I love snow days and I love NYC.
Sharing one of my favorite ways to embrace winter layering today. Combining patterns and adding a dash of brightness, I mixed plaid with stripes today and anchored the look with pops of red. I have four layers on top (a thermal, a turtleneck, a ruffle striped top, and a plaid coat) and two layers on the bottom (wool tights and black jeans), and even with all of these layers, I don’t feel uncomfortable or bulky. And I love wearing red in the wintertime. This bag and these boots have made it through two snow storms and they came out unblemished! Wet with ice still on them by the time I got inside, they both dried completely without leaving a single water mark or stain!
I know the blogging world has changed significantly since I started and I always think about ways to improve. And in the end, the questions I always ask myself are… how can I add more value? What would my readers enjoy? For 2018, I have a few things plan. I’d love to share them with you and please share what you’d like to see more or what kind of content/subjects/topics you’re interested in.
~ Plans for 2018 ~
- Create more Themed Blog Posts ~
For example: Best NYC date night spots | The Business of Blogging: Sharing best practices and tips | NYC most Instagram-worthy spots | Fashionable Cat Furniture: They’re the Boss but the place can still be chic | Sharing suggestions on building a handbag collection | Styling and Restyling: same item but multiple ways | DIY posts | Travel, etc…
- Best of Budget Blog Posts ~
I’d love to share and feature more best of budget posts with hero pieces under $150. For example, this post is a Best of Budget post. Every item that is current with the exception of the bag and sunglasses are under $150. The Express coat after discount is $75, the Topshop turtleneck is $25, the Topshop jeans is $65, the Steve Madden boots are $130. And all of these pieces are timeless and versatile!
- Focus on Passion Projects ~
The truth is I get a little shy when it comes to sharing about my passion projects, because I don’t know if it’s interesting to other people or is it only interesting to me since I’m so close to the source. Over a year ago, I started the Wendy’s Lookbook Foundation (to support youth impacted by the juvenile justice system) and to this day, it’s going strong. My team for the foundation is small but mighty, and we developed a fund to provide housing, health care, education, transportation, and emergency assistance to our youth. We work at the ground level and understand the need of every youth, so we can respond swiftly and effectively.
In addition to the WLB Foundation, I’m planning my second trip to understand the personal and global impact of human sex trafficking. We visited a safe house and spent time with community leaders in Mexico City last year, and this year, we’ll be in Vietnam. I can’t wait to share more with you.
I’m excited for this year. I’m excited to see new trends, to embrace new silhouettes, and to rediscover previous fashion themes. And moreover, I’m truly excited to continue our work at the WLB Foundation and to be seekers of truth and justice. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for your support, encouragement, and love through the years. Thank you for being on this journey with me. Thank you.
