This entry is titled “Back to Basics” and it has dual meanings to me. First, it’s dedicated to what I love to wear – basic tees and black pants. And second, it’s a reminder for me to work hard, stay resilient, and always challenge myself artistically.
I just love a simple tee with either black skinny jeans or leather pants. It’s so easy yet so chic!
To add extra flare to this outfit, I paired it with my one of my favorite booties. The heel details on these booties are spectacular – lacquered paint drip designs!
I’ve been itching to design another clutch ever since I was up in San Francisco. But with the move to Chicago then to LA, I haven’t had time or moments of inspiration to create another clutch design. I still have left-over materials from the previous clutch, and played with it from time to time, but nothing really spoke to me. And recently, I had to remind myself to go back to the basics – just keep on pushing and keep on challenging myself artistically. And something happened three days ago… I went to my jewelry box and pulled out this McQueen leopard bracelet that my girlfriends gave me as a going away present. I kept on looking at it and was overwhelmed with emotions. I have great admiration for Alexander McQueen. Most of his life, he battled with mental health issues and ended up taking his own life after his mother’s death. He was a fearless, bold, and experimental designer. His fashion shows were something beyond the imagination. As I looked at the bracelet, it reminded me to be daring and always stay inspired. And it was also the catalyst to a new concept design… I want to make an asymmetric fold-over leopard print clutch.
As always, thank you so much for reading! I can not wait to update you on the status of the new clutch design!
