Stripes :: Missoni for Target & Sculpted heels
I had an interesting conversation a few weeks ago with a friend of mine, a designer who I respect dearly, about designer collaborations. How does she feel about Missoni for Target and Versace for H&M? She said, “It’s brilliant!”
I replied, “I love it too, but some people think that they’re selling out.” My talented friend has been in the fashion industry for over 20 years, thus I find her perspective invaluable. She shared with me that collaborations are meant to create brand awareness, and moreover, does not damage the brand’s reputation. Because limited supply is released, consumers have a very small window of participation which does not negatively impact the brand. I appreciate collaborations, and for this particular one, Missoni for Target, has sentimental value to me. My first designer scarf that I purchased was Missoni. Even though I bought it for 50% off, I remember my wallet hurting when I paid for it. I think these collaborations are fun, and more importantly, it gives price conscientious women the option of owning a signature design at a reasonable price.
Thank you so much for reading!
