Happy Wednesday everyone!

Lately, I’ve been relying on a secret weapon for a boost of courage.  Actually, two.  Between pitch meetings and partnership introductions, it can feel like I’m going on several creative job interviews during the week.  I still get butterflies in my stomach, so I greatly appreciate a jolt of confidence whenever possible.  Without fail, two things have helped me on this journey.  A statement skirt and a power pose.  Every time I wear a statement skirt, I truly feel empowered.  It’s as though an inner strength has been released.  Pair that with the second part and something magical happens.  After hearing Amy Cuddy’s TED talk about how body language can shape social interactions, MM and I practice power poses whenever we need a confidence boost.  It’s such a simple act and it really works.  At first, it was so awkward standing there for 2 minutes fully stretched out in silence.  But later it became a safe zone where we can give ourselves mental pep talks right before encountering stressful situations.  Going back to the statement skirt… this is why I love fashion.  There is a connective tissue that binds what we wear to how it can effect our emotional state.  Feeling strong coupled with positive thoughts can lead to meaningful outcomes.  If you haven’t seen Amy Cuddy’s talk, I highly recommend it.  It’s a great study about social psychology and body language.

Do you have a power piece that is mood enhancing?  I’d love to hear your stories.  And as always, thank you so much for reading!
