Welcome Autumn :: Bow parka & Color blocked bag
Hi everyone! If you are in the mood for a movie, MM and I highly recommend Gravity (in IMAX 3D to experience the full visual story!). We took a quick break earlier this week, went to a matinee showing, and couldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the night. Alfonso Cuarón used imagery and light/sound motifs to tell a gripping story about a shuttle mission in space. It’s a simple story told (but difficult to execute – the film took 4 plus years to make) about the human spirit. I don’t want to say too much at the risk of spoiling the movie, but if you haven’t seen it, highly recommended! And if you’ve already seen it, what did you think?
The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for us, and our schedules are so tight that after the words “happy [insert day] everyone!” on a blog entry, I’m off rushing to a meeting or finishing a project with MM. After New York, we drove up to San Francisco to produce a nail story where we used the nail bed as a canvas to tell short stories. Right after SF, we flew to Hawaii for a fashion conference, which went so well thanks to your good luck wishes! Even though I was super nervous about my keynote talk, I didn’t pass out or fall on my way up to the stage which is always a plus. I shared our best practices and ways young designers can integrate social media into their overall branding and marketing strategies. After Hawaii, we did a quick fun day shoot with Wong Fu Productions for their latest short Real Friends 2, then we ramped up for a very special film collaboration with Tacori. And last night, Tacori hosted an incredible event where they announced our partnership to their partners, and we can’t wait to unveil and share the design with you in the first week of November! This design was drawn, created, and incubated since the beginning of this year, so we can’t wait for it to come to life after months of tender care. It’s like giving birth and we’re beyond excited!
As you’re reading this, we’re on our way to Boston to film two projects and to shoot a photo story for The Frame. I feel so blessed that we have these opportunities to work on our passion projects. On the flight, MM and I reflected on the events of last night and we feel incredibly humbled. One year ago, we attended the annual Tacori event as guests, and this year, we were there as collaborators. Working with and designing with Tacori is an absolute dream come true. We can’t wait for you to see the design!
Happy Wednesday and as always, thank you thank you for reading!
