A bunny's farewell :: Tuxedo jacket & Wool hat

Happy Monday everyone!

I truly love unique designs and this jacket is quite exceptional.  Elevating the traditional tuxedo style, this piece has leather trimmings and a sheer lace back panel.  I’m pairing it with a leather top this time, but can’t wait to restyle it with a rich color so that it will show through the lace portion next time.

Sometimes I feel that with the expansive world of social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more), instead of feeling connected we feel disconnected.  Instead of direct contact and conversations, we see the lives of our friends, family, and acquaintances through the lens of computer and phone screens via news feeds and pictures.  As the online world is meant to connect us all, passive viewing may lead to a sense of loneliness and isolation.  And in the quietness of our thoughts and worlds, I also witness the power of social networks.  Whereas it can lead to disconnection, it can also create something incredible magical… profound emotional attachments.

As you might already know, I follow a little bunny name Rambo on Instagram.  Since February (that was when a friend introduced me to him and his family), I religiously looked at his pictures every night before going to sleep.  It was the purity and innocence in him and his brother Eddy that I loved so much.  Not only that, but Bunnymama herself is truly inspirational.  A huge advocate for adoption and healthy bunny care, she educates others on her Instagram page.  Whenever I leave a comment on her picture, she would reply with “Rams and Eddy says hi to Auntie Wendy too!”.  Even though we’ve never met in person, I felt so connected to her, her cause, and her bunnies.  I was so attached to her bunnies that sometimes I thought they were my own.  The world of Instagram brought us together.  Little Rambo died two days ago from health complications and it had a profound effect on me.  I’m actually wearing sunglasses today because my eyes are puffy from crying.  I know it might sound silly to be so emotional over an online bunny, but this goes back to social media and its ability to foster interconnectivity.  Whenever I feel down or having a bad day, I turned to his pictures.  They were my escape.  It’s so amazing how a little bunny with a big personality gave so much to the world.  I often wonder if Rambo knew the world was watching him.  He brought so much joy and happiness to so many.  On his farewell, Bunnymama wrote a quote by Winnie the Pooh, ‘How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard’ under his picture.  Oh Rambo, please say hi to my baby bird Kiwi when you see him at the rainbow bridge.  Tell him I love him and miss him so much.
