Happy Friday everyone!  It’s finally fall in LA!  Or at least for a few more days before the heat returns.  And you know what that means… scarf season!  This oversized piece is actually more like a blanket than a scarf (currently no longer available online, but might still be in-store).  Super large and cozy, I wanted to share with you two ways to wear this massive piece.  One way is to fold it diagonally and drape it over (above) and another way is to fold it horizontally a few times and wear it flat (below).

Since that walking incident a few weeks ago, I’ve received messages and emails requesting for a follow-up.  Just wanted to share a few things with you.  I did report it to the police.  Unfortunately, the conversations were very unpleasant.  I called and female officer picked up.  After asking me where the location of the incident was, she transferred me to a male officer.  I’m assuming he served that particular area.  I told him what happened, it escalated to a blame game, and ended with his question ‘so what do you want me to do about it?’.  That’s when I broke down in tears and said I’m not expecting you to do anything about it now, but can you please send out someone around 11 pm – 2 am to patrol that area.  I just don’t want another woman to get hurt.  And he hung up.  That was pretty much it.

After that incident, I changed a few of my personal habits.  I only walk in places where there are a lot of people around.  The last time I was in New York (Times Square), I was 30 minutes early to my meeting, so I decided to take a walk and grab some tea.  Before, I would stand in the corner of the street, look down at my phone, search Yelp for a nearby coffee shop, and start walking with my head half down trying to map out the place.  Now, I make it a priority to head into a secure office building, search, and map out the location before leaving.  I’d memorize the location, put the phone in my pocket, and make eye contact with people walking by.  Making eye contact is new for me.  I don’t know why I didn’t do that before, but am glad I’m doing it now.  Being completely aware of my surroundings and not having my phone to distract me, I feel much more confident now.

The message is still the same… please take care and please be safe!  Please take care of yourself and each other.  Wishing you a safe and happy weekend ahead!
