Happy Monday everyone!  I just got back from New York and it was such an emotional trip.  Full of good emotions of course!  But before we talk about warm and fuzzy things, let’s talk fashion.  The Marissa Webb show (more photos here) was incredible!  Staying true to her signature touch, she sent down looks that captured the essence of being sweet and edgy.  Leather paired with delicate lace, cargo vests coupled with floral prints, and lush silk shirt-dresses.  Before the runway show, Marissa and I caught up at her studio.  We played with her dogs (which made me miss my cat!), did a quick make-up test, and hung out on her couch.  Even though the stress level was high and the pressure intense, Marissa stayed cool as a cucumber with laser sharp focus.  I can see it in her eyes that every detail was considered and every element of the show was examined.

Outfit :: Marissa Webb vest, top, and skirt, Banana Republic clutch, Miu Miu shoes

Everything at the Banana Republic presentation was drool-worthy, including the male models.  It was truly a showcase of classics elevated.  Beautiful power suits, vibrant full skirts, embellished tops, and cool prints.  It was playful as well.  There were shorts with fun scallop details, marble-like print on oversized jackets, and a super chic white lace romper that I couldn’t stop staring at.  Just like last season, the tailoring on the men’s side was impeccable.  Sleek linen suits, sharp wool suits, and smart layering.

Every season I always think back to my very first New York Fashion Week.  And every time I’m at NYFW, it never gets old.  It’s the beautiful designs that captivates me, but more than that, it’s the people.  Jihae, the winner of the MW x BR giveaway, and I had lunch before the Marissa Webb show.  It was our first time meeting and we completely hit it off!  We spent everyday together and got to know each other at a deep level.  She has a beautiful family and also fosters young children from the foster care system.  We laughed and cried together, ate a lot of brussels spouts (my favorite!), she tried for the first time Momofuku milk bar and Pure Thai Cookhouse (another of my all-time favorites in NYC!), and saw beautiful designs at the MW show and BR presentation.  I count my blessings everyday that I get to call this my job and am truly grateful that I can re-live the feelings of my very first NYFW through the eyes of someone else.  The universe conspired and I couldn’t ask for a better ‘someone else’ than Jihae.  She is beautiful inside and out with a giving heart and tender soul.

As always, thank you so much for reading and a very very special thank you to Marissa Webb and Banana Republic for your kindness and love!  And hi Jihae!

Thank you so much for reading!
