About three years ago, I wrote a blog post about reclaiming my inner confidence. At that time, I broke up with a boyfriend of eight years and just putting myself out there and meeting people was very new to me. And it was nerve-racking! I honestly didn’t know how to act on dates. I learned very quickly that if I’m not comfortable with myself, it showed pretty loud and clear. I didn’t rush into dating, but instead I worked on myself so I can rebuild that sense of inner confidence again. First, I adopted a cat. Nothing makes you feel more loved and gives more color to your life than a playful kitten. Sammie is actually laying right next to me as I’m writing this. He knows I’m talking about him. And second, I bought pretty little things. Pretty bras and undies. True story. Sounds a little strange, but that was the second thing I did. I wrote about it in that blog post, and now revisiting this topic… it feels refreshing. To this day, I still feel empowered when I buy a lace bra. I think it’s the connection of seeing something pretty and wearing something pretty that makes you just feel pretty inside. And slowly, this feeling plants a seed of confidence. Back then, it helped me regain my inner confidence, and now, it reinforces my inner strength.
To this day, I continue to collect pretty little things and can never get enough of little lace pieces. Above, this plum mesh bra is the perfect combination of classic shapes and clean lines. I love matching it with a floral lace bikini and showing it off with an oversized off-shoulder sweater.
