Two Ways to Style a Utility Jacket

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Two outfits today.  One, casual.  One, dressy.
Both featuring the same utility jacket!

Utility jackets are perfect for spring and all season round.  They have a casual feel, but can be dressed up for a tough-meets-soft vibe.  They work with everything from boyfriend jeans to skirts and look great worn open or belted.  Quick coffee run?  Utility jacket with flats.  Walk the dog (or cat)?  Utility jacket with sneakers.  Date night?  And no time to change from getting coffee to being in the office to walking the dog or cat.  Yup, utility jacket with sandals.  As you can see, I’m a huge fan of this style!

To dress it up, I paired the jacket with a skirt and sandals.  And to soften the look, I mixed the tough vibe of the field jacket with delicate feathers and feminine bows.  Together it blends harmoniously creating a symphony of rich textures.  For a casual take on the utility style, I love combining it with simple sleek pieces and anchoring it with the same color family.  Classic black jeans and minimalist booties with dashes of army green.

:: Utility Jacket Styling ::

Outfit 1 :: Veronica Beard utility jacket | Marissa Webb ruffle top | Milly feather skirt | Alexandre Birman bow sandals | By Malene Birger belt (similar Ralph Lauren under $40)

Outfit 2 :: Veronica Beard utility jacket | L’Agence lace floral top | Topshop jeans | YSL ‘Muse Two’ bag | Steve Madden boots | Rag & Bone belt

I love utility jackets with fun details.  A high mock neck, flare sleeves, camo patchwork, florals, or studs… details that add interest and depth to the overall look and feel.  Below are a few of my favorites!  Hope you enjoy the styling and thank you so much for reading!
