O

Overalls?  The comeback kid this season!  Now, the burning question… Can overalls be styled in a chic and fashionable way?!

A trend that comes and goes, they’re now updated with lush textures and interesting cuts.  I personally love overalls that have a dress shape to them.  They give more of a grown up feel.  Now, the burning question… Can overalls be styled in a chic and fashionable way?  Challenge accepted!

I love the nostalgia associated with overalls.  They just bring out that inner child in us.  Just imagine kid-size overalls.  Aww.  Now imagine overalls on puppies.  Wha… aww.  It’s pretty darn cute too.  Let’s keep the childlike spirit that makes them so special by adding a pop of color.  In this case, a pop of vibrant magenta.  For the grown up chic part, I love pairing them with a romantic top.  Overalls naturally have a utilitarian feel, so I love adding something soft and feminine to create a harmonious contrast.  It gives the overall styling a tough yet soft feel.

When Colin and I were shooting this outfit story, a lady walked by, stopped right next to him, went on her tippy toes (it was really adorable because she’s about my height and Colin is a foot taller than me), looked at him and said, you got the shoes right?  The shoes have to be in the picture!

She loved the shoes.  We chatted for a few minutes and after she left, I thought to myself… Gosh, I love NYC.  It’s a place full of people who are not shy, who are unapologetically and authentically themselves, who have strong personalities.  I’m just so grateful to call this city home.

I hope you enjoy the styling and thank you so much for reading!
