Happy Friday everyone! We’re back in LA and I think we just skipped spring and went straight to summer. Trying to keep cool from the hot weather, I went back to basics with black and white, and a special friend on my shoulder.
From the previous post, there’s definitely mixed feelings about my Givenchy wedge boots. I equate these boots to the fruit durian. If you’ve never had it, I highly recommend it. It’s quite a sensory experience. When I see people near it, I’m always genuinely curious to know what it smells like to them. Some say it smells like trash, dirt, or even wet socks. While others, and I’m in this camp, identify butterscotch favors and floral notes. People either cannot stand being near it or completely enjoy eating it. One thing I find incredibly special about durian is that it elicits such strong sensory and emotional responses in people. And these boots are my durian. I find them beautiful, while others are repelled by them. Before deciding to purchase them, I knew that they would be a challenge to wear, mainly because the ankle areas are covered. And somehow this challenge inspired me. What I love about these boots (and fashion in general) is that it pushes me out of my comfort zone.
To be honest with you, I have a few other unique items in my closet that I haven’t shared yet. There are times when I’m hesitant because I’m unsure about your reaction. But in the end, I want to stay true to myself and my love for fashion. When I was younger, my escape was looking at the pages of Vogue. Fashion to me is not only the clothes that we wear, it’s an emotional journey. And whether we disagree on the beauty of certain items, I greatly appreciate that you spent time out of your busy day to be on this journey with me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share.
As always, thank you so much for reading!
