Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
We’re still recovering from the holiday feast. My brother came over on Friday and stayed till late Saturday. What I love most about Thanksgiving cooking is witnessing how adventurous he is. Every year he pushes himself and embraces experimentation. He taught MM and I how to properly brine a whole chicken last year, and this year, he made fried vinegar infused chicken paired with onion confit potatoes. How do you make onion confit? I have no idea but it was delicious. I contributed with sausage stuffing and balsamic glazed brussels sprouts. During the meal, my brother took us around the world with a beer flight. He spoke with confidence and humor as he educated us about the region and taste notes of each beer. In my eyes, my brother will always be that little boy. Some of our long time readers know that my brother and I were separated when we were younger, so now I cherish every moment we have together. I can’t speak for him, but that separation scarred me deeply and I’m always afraid of losing him again (even though I know it’s just my own paranoia now). After the meal, we talked and talked till early morning. I always want him to stay longer but I know he has a life outside of cooking food for his sister. Why can’t everyday be Thanksgiving?!
From our family to yours, happy holidays! And thank you so much for reading!
