Story of a loser.  Just dancing reminded me of this story.

In high school, I wanted to join band.  I’m actually terrified of any music related activities.  I don’t sing in the shower, I get super nervous when I see a karaoke machine, I can’t read music, and the list goes on.  So… why band?  I really really wanted to overcome my fear.  So my band teacher gave me a trombone.  Trombone?  Yup, and I realized two things: 1. my arms are too short for the trombone and 2. I have very little lung power.  So he referred me to the color guard team.

My high school color guard team was… special.  We always finished second.  To last.  Or dead last.  No matter how hard we tried, we couldn’t follow straight lines or keep rhythm on tosses.  Because we were losing so badly, we weren’t afraid to try new things.  New dance moves, new choreography, new flag tosses.  We didn’t give up.  And, we still lost.  But I did learn valuable life sessions from all of this.  That it’s ok to be a loser.  As long as we got up (no seriously, we got knocked down and hit by our own flags so many times) and kept on pushing.

Moral of the story… glad I was a loser in high school.  Failure was the best teacher I could have ever asked for.  And I still don’t sing in the shower.

Back to the outfit, it’s made for dancing!  It swings, it moves, it dances with each step.  Because it’s so sweet, I paired it with soft accents.  Bows and sequins.

Hope you enjoy the styling and photography!  Happy Wednesday and wishing you a great rest of the week!
