Happy New Year everyone!

I’m pretty lucky.  The weather in Chicago has been cold but not freezing.  So far, I’ve been able to manage the chill and wind.  Thank you for checking up on our bet!  Mystery Man decided to make tomorrow, Monday, the challenge day, because it is the coldest day of the week.  As much as he wants to win, I don’t like losing, so tomorrow is going to be interesting.  Can’t wait to share the results with you!

2011 was a wonderful year for Mystery Man and I.  We started our YouTube channel in January and this blog in March, and we are incredibly grateful for all of your love and support throughout the year!  Your kind words were, and will always be, fuel for us to continue on this journey.  Before starting Wendy’s Lookbook, we both quit our professional jobs without a contingency plan.  Mystery Man was a software engineer and I was a financial consultant for many years, but we both did not find our jobs fulfilling.  Mystery Man left his job first to pursue filmmaking, and after a year or so, I decided to leave my job as well.  To be honest with you, I was completely scared, but at the same time, I never felt so free.  And in this freedom, I found ways to chase dreams that were unimaginable before.  Words can not express how much I appreciate your support.  Thank you for being on this journey with me!  Wishing you endless happiness, success, and love in 2012 and beyond.

I’ve learned so much in 2011 and would like to share some of these experiences with you =)

1. A skilled tailor is invaluable.  He or she can give life to old pieces and can help personalize new items.  If you’re in the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend Hector.  If you’re in the San Francisco area, I strong suggest Uni.
2. A great steamer is worth every penny.  I have the Jiffy J-4000 and absolutely love it!  Mystery Man worked at Banana Republic for a little bit after college and this is the steamer that they use at their stores.  It does an amazing job taking out wrinkles.  Steaming is very easy once you get the hang of it.  Be careful not to burn yourself!
3. My most favorite purchase in 2011 was definitely my Alexander McQueen scarf.  I admire McQueen’s character and for his creative ambitious designs.  This scarf is so versatile and timeless!
4. Two trends that I had strong attractions to in 2011 (and going forward) were faux fur vests and leather bottoms.  They instantly glam up any outfit!
5. Peanut butter will take out sticky residue on polished surfaces and an artist eraser will lighten stains or marks on suede.
6. One of the greatest highlights of 2011 for me was getting to know amazing community organizations.  Thank you InsideOUT Writers, Each One Reach One, City Year, and United Friends for embracing and helping marginalized youths!
7. Penguins have the most adorable courtship dance and I think humans should adapt it =)

As always, thank you so much for reading and cheers to 2012!
